The self-curling tail helps you position the strap around the bar. Set the tension to suit your grip before your working sets.

WHEN YOUR HANDS CALL IT EARLY
Your hands have a job to do. When grip becomes the limiting factor in a pulling set, straps give you another option for grip assistance.
Get your setup right, then bring your attention back to the movement.
